RAP Branding & Artwork Guidelines
Our Reconciliation Action Plan is now at the second stage of it's journey - Innovate.
Full details of our RAP Journey can be found on The Hub (for staff) and on our website here.
As part of this journey we comissioned a bespoke artwork piece by an Aboriginal artist. We encourage our Australian businesses to use and reference this artwork in both internal and external communications.
However, before using our RAP artwork it is important to read the below RAP guidelines in full.
These guidelines should also be read in conjunction with MCD’s Corporate Brand Guidelines or Built Environs Brand Guidelines.
Approval
Before using the RAP Artwork, all designs must be approved by the RAP Advisory Committee (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and MCD Group Brand and Marketing (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).
Appropriate Usage
Our RAP artwork has been developed for a specific purpose and has meaning to the company and our reconciliation journey. The use of it must be clearly understood and explained. i.e. don’t use it just because it looks nice.
Reference Artist
When using the artwork in a document or submission, please include the artist’s name as the creator of the artwork and include the story behind the artwork somewhere in the document.
Correct copy is below:
This original artwork design was created by Marcus Lee, a proud Aboriginal descendant of the Karajarri people in Western Australia.
This artwork depicts a bird’s eye view of the Australian landscape, in recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander continuous connection to land, waters and culture. The central circular ring formation represents the start of McConnell Dowell’s commitment to their reconciliation journey our ‘stake in the ground’.
The three surrounding circular rings symbolise People, Community and Connection. These three rings also represent the three pillars that guide our reconciliation journey: Relationships, Respect and Opportunities. The nine surrounding circular rings form a framework that portray McConnell Dowell’s specialist capabilities. The six outer circular formations depict Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities that are connected by journey pathways representing inclusiveness and diversity within McConnell Dowell. These journey pathways also express the commitment of McConnell Dowell to developing strong, trusting and respectful relationships.
MCD & BE Usage Only
The artwork has been produced for McConnell Dowell and Built Environs and should not be used for alliances and joint ventures that involve other organisations. E.g. WPA and PTPA.
The license for this artwork expires in November 2024, unless renewed beforehand.
Correct Artwork files
DO NOT extract pictures from this webpage or copy them from any other source. All RAP artwork elements are available below in high resolution for printing and web use.
All items developed using the RAP artwork should be created by a professional designer to protect the integrity of the work and MCD’s and BE's brands.
Our RAP Artwork (shown below) has been created for the Company’s Reflect and Innovate RAPs and may change as the company moves along its reconciliation journey. Therefore, permanent installations of the artwork should be sparing and installed with the knowledge that it will need to be changed.
Wall art
All Australian offices should have a professionally designed 'RAP wall' installed. This wall should incorporate our artwork and be accompanied by "Our RAP Journey" text.
Text can be placed to the side of the artwork on MCD green (colour breakdown C75 M0 Y95 K15).
Examples below:
The generic version of the above wall artwork and a pull up banner version are available below for use in offices, at sites, or for events.
The above wall artwork can also be revised to include a location specific Acknowledgement of Country (top right)
Where only a portion of the RAP artwork is to be used, e.g. on a shirt sleeve/collar or where space restricts full use, the centre circular ring should always remain at the centre of the artwork.
PPE - RAP artwork integrated
You can incorporate the RAP artwork into your project's PPE - use the below artwork as a template to send to your supplier. They will need the RAP artwork in the .EPS file format for professional printing.
NOTE: Because of the green in our RAP artwork, the monochrome version should be used for PPE on rail projects - see advice further down.
RAP hardhats are created through a process known as 'hydrodipping', where the RAP artwork is 'wrapped' around the helmet in a bespoke printing process.
To achieve this look and get a quality finish, the RAP artwork needs to be supplied in a particular format and layout. Please contact Group Marketing & Communications for further information and printing files.
Please ensure all RAP PPE is approved by the the RAP Advisory Committee (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and MCD Group Brand and Marketing (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) before going into production.
