We're delivering the first tranche of the Inland Rail project in Victoria - the Beveridge to Albury (B2A) package - for the Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC). The overall Inland Rail project will enable double-stacked freight trains to operate between Brisbane and Melbourne.

Our contract encompasses four 'rail enhancement' sites located in central and northern Victoria, as well as some corridor wide works. The enhancement site works include bridge replacements at Glenrowan, Wangaratta and Seymour; a new pedestrian underpass at Wangaratta; and track lowering. Corridor wide scope includes signalling works, track slews and overhead utilities.

Our success in securing the contract was largely due to our collaborative approach to working with ARTC’s Inland Rail team, as well as our focus on employing as many local people on the project as possible. The B2A contract is expected to support work for more than 170 people over the life of the project.

In awarding us this contract, ARTC Inland Rail Interim Chief Executive Rebecca Pickering said...

“We’ve selected McConnell Dowell based on their experience delivering major projects including multi-million dollar rail, bridges, railway stations and roads in Australia, New Zealand and globally.”

The project is due for completion in early 2025. For further information please visit the Inland Rail website.
