Australian Naval Infrastructure awarded McConnell Dowell the Marine Development Works at the Common User Facility (CUF), part of the Osborne Naval Shipyard (ONS) in Adelaide. McConnell Dowell built the orginal CUF in 2010 and it provides critical infrastructure to support naval shipbuilding and commercial users, including the largest shiplift in the southern hemisphere.

The awarding of the Marine Development Works follows an Early Contractor Involvement phase, where McConnell Dowell's marine engineers optimised the design and construction approach in collaboration with ANI.

The Marine Development Works consists of four packages:

  1. Land backed wharf extension
  2. Shiplift platform structural upgrade works
  3. Extension of the existing dry berth facility
  4. River dredging and maintenance dredging to the shiplift pocket.

The development works are part of the overall expansion and modernisation of the ONS into a world-class, fully integrated shipbuilding hub for existing and future naval shipbuilding programs.
