Construction Meets Art

Introducing The Bridge Art Prize 2025, a creative community collaboration between McConnell Dowell and the Derwent Valley Arts, leaving a legacy for Tasmanian youth in the arts sector.

The Bridge Art Prize aims to celebrate and commemorate the construction of the New Bridgewater Bridge - Tasmania’s largest ever transport infrastructure project - through local creative expressions of what “the bridge” means to Tasmanians. The artists can select thier preferred media including photography, painting, printmaking, graffiti, poetry, videography, animation, music, ceramics, textiles, and sculpture.

Derwent Valley Arts is a community-based, volunteer organisation established to enhance Tasmania's Derwent Valley as a place to live by promoting the arts in the region.

The prize has been wonderfully sponsored by twenty-one of our business partners, helping us construct the new bridge, allowing for an acquisitive cash prize of $25,000.

Entries will be judged by an independent panel of three judges, one of whom is Tasmanian arts industry doyenne Emma Bett, of Bett Gallery in Murray Street, Hobart.

List of The Bridge sponsors:
Derwent Valley Arts, McConnell Dowell, Caporn Foundations, Elgin Associates, Ecotech, Resonate Consultants, Reveg Tasmania, Hazell Bros Concrete, TasSpan, BridgePro Engineering, Batchelor Construction Group, VSL Australia, pitt&sherry, ARC, Tonkin + Taylor, Jacobs Group, Tony Gee and Partners, GHD, AusPat Survey, Healthy Hobart Cleaning, Rapid Supply, SD Packaging, GroundUp Imaging.
