Built Environs Company Profile

The Modbury Hospital Upgrade is providing communities in Adelaide’s north eastern suburbs with a state-of-the art, functional and local hospital. The project will reduce pressure on emergency departments, provide access to a higher level of care closer to home, grow and strengthen surgical services, provide more privacy and a home- like environment for palliative care patients, upgrade facilities and enhance the experience for patients, visitors and staff. Built Environs’ team is delivering the fast-tracked, multi-staged project within a live hospital environment, while ensuring that the hospital and associated health services remain operational throughout construction. Careful planning, staging and consultation with hospital personnel has been key to minimising disruption to this sensitive environment, and the team is now working with SA Health to create innovative, interactive 3D user guides to ensure a safe and successful return to hospital operations in the new facilities. The scope of work includes refurbishment of existing buildings and extensive new build works, façade remediation, seismic structural upgrade and various building services and will provide four new operating theatres, two new procedure rooms, an eight- bed extended emergency care unit, a four-bed high dependency unit, a 20-bed palliative care unit, a 26-bed short-stay general medical unit, new main entry and outpatient department, new administrative area and essential infrastructure upgrades. The Modbury Hospital Upgrade will be complete in 2021.
