The first contract covered the 2020-24 regulatory business period, and the JV was recently granted an extension of an additional four years.

This ‘Delivering Capital Together’ model has been established to create a high performing collaborative environment, enabling each major framework partner to work closely with SA Water and each other to provide effective planning, management and delivery of projects across South Australia.

The McConnell Dowell Diona joint venture is delivering the Water North program typically consisting of projects located north of metropolitan Adelaide and the Central Northern, Northern Region and Eyre Regions of South Australia.

In its first phase (2020-24) the program was made up of approximately 150 projects involving the design and construction of water infrastructure consisting of:

  • Pipeline and trunk mains - new and replacement
  • Dam and earth bank storage construction and remediation
  • Water storage tank construction and rehabilitation
  • Networks and mechanical and electrical upgrades
  • Water treatment plants

Leveraging best design management practice and construction planning with a fully integrated team, Water North develops strategies for the continuation of services to SA Water’s customers through innovative, smart planning, design and construction. Acheivements thus far include:

  • Construction of the fastest ever built tank for SA Water in Port Lincoln
  • 7 kms of trunk mains upgrades in the Barossa region

At the core value of the joint venture is the focus on providing genuine value for money that improve reliability and capacity of water supply to all of SA Water’s customers.
