McConnell Dowell has a long history of designing and constructing marine infrastructure across New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, Australia and South East Asia. In 2017, we were awarded the Australian Infrastructure of the Year Award for the Melbourne, Webb Dock redevelopment.
We are proud to continue this legacy as part of the Wynyard Edge Alliance, alongside Downer, BECA, Tonkin + Taylor, Auckland Council and MBIE. The Alliance was created to design and construct the infrastructure to support the 36th America’s Cup competition in Auckland, New Zealand in 2021. The Project Alliance Agreement has been signed and we’re excited about starting construction activities.
The project involves Wynyard Wharf repairs; an extension to Hobson Wharf; dredging; construction of six breakwaters; public access ways, amenity areas and public realm; installation of floating pontoon structures and foundation pads for five racing syndicate bases.
Construction has commenced with completion of the project expected by early to mid-2020.
